SMART-NT offers Four Course Options to improve both driver
skill and hazard assessment levels whilst driving a 4 Wheel Drive.
One Day Course (Option 1a)
8 HOURS (40%Theory - 60% Practical)
(4 Wheel Drive Operation/Recovery Techniques)
This option concentrates on the various uses, and more importantly, the limitations of using a 4 Wheel Drive whilst traversing various Off Road terrains. Included as part of the content is the safe use of various hazard recovery equipment.
One Day Course (Option 1b)
8 HOURS (20%Theory - 80% Practical)
(Combination Defensive {Dirt} Driving & Basic 4 Wheel Drive Operation/Recovery Techniques)
This short course option combines the appropriate content of Defensive driving on Dirt/Sub standard surfaces (roll over prevention and animal avoidance) and includes basic off road terrain solutions and recovery techniques covered in Option One A.
Two Day Course (Option 2)
16 HOURS (40%Theory - 60% Practical)
(Defensive Driving {Dirt} & 4 Wheel Drive Operation/Recovery Techniques)
This is SMART-NT's most popular course. In addition to the full Off Road content provided by Option One A, this course also concentrates on the various techniques required to deal with dirt road driving. Whilst the techniques to counter the dangerous effects of vehicle oversteer, understeer and rollover issues are provided, the main emphasis is placed on prevention rather than cure/control.
Three Day Course (Option 3)
24 HOURS (40%Theory - 60% Practical)
(Defensive Driving {Bitumen/Dirt} & 4 Wheel Drive Operation/Recovery Techniques)
In addition to the content provided by Course Options One A and Two, this course Option also addresses the requirements of surviving on suburban and highway road networks. A complete driver training course which will comprehensively address all aspects of driving a 4 Wheel Drive. Theory and practical sessions effectively address suburban, highway, dirt road driving and Off Road driving requirements.
