Offering cost effective driver education and training, SMART-NT is the 'SMART' alternative
to expensive motor vehicle repair bills and will improve profitability. Whilst SMART-NT is based in Darwin, we regularly service all major centres and
remote locations throughout the Northern Territory.
Since it's establishment in 1993 by former N.T. Police Driving Instructor, Gary Pendlebury,
SMART-NT has been delivering training programs to Mining Companies, Private Organisations and both
NT and Federal Government Departments. SMART-NT now enjoys Preferred Training Provider Status with Northern Territory Government Departments. Training programs have been provided in all major centres throughout the Northern Territory and selected locations in Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, Myanmar and Indonesia.
Qualifications of SMART-NT instructors ensure they rate amongst the best in the Northern
Territory in delivering consistent quality training. SMART-NT has gained the respect and
approval of the broader community and maintenance of these qualifications contributes to
this success.
Training with SMART-NT doesn't cost, it pays! Many clients of SMART-NT's have experienced
reductions in motor vehicle collision incidence. A reduction in workers compensation and insurance claims can result in deductions in insurance premiums. A reduction in the incidence of collisions through employing our Collision Management stratagies means less work hours lost, lower
costs, higher staff availability and higher

Defensive Driving Courses provided by SMART-NT concentrate on street survival techniques rather than racing
or advanced driving methods. Emphasis is placed on driver behaviour and attitude whilst improving driving skills. "Drive With Your Head, Not Your Hands" Training programs of this type are more appropriate to dealing with day to day traffic conditions and are highly accepted within the insurance industry .
SMART-NT provides a number of 4 Wheel Drive training course options that pro-actively address the safe use of a four wheel drive vehicle on various terrains. These courses have been specially developed to address client needs in the operation of these vehicles, content includes the latest off road technologies and can include Defensive Driving on dirt roads.
The use of ATV (Quads) and UTV (SxS) style vehicles throughout the NT has risen dramatically in recent years, primarily due to their capacity to access areas that standard 4 wheel drive vehicles find difficult going. SMART-NT's courses are designed to provide training content which explores the full safe potential of these vehicles whilst addressing the potential instability issues these vehicles can present
